Carbon Brush
Carbon brushes are essential electrical components made of carbon and graphite that conduct current between stationary and rotating parts of the motor. Different brush grades are used based on the elevator's specific electrical and environmental needs.
Selecting the correct brush grade and maintaining them properly helps to reduce dusting, minimize maintenance downtime, and maximize the lifespan of the motor and the brushes themselves. They vary in thickness, width and length.
Where an existing brush is still available and is giving good performance, no change should be made. Where a brush has been discontinued, start by changing all brushes on the machine over to the current recommended brushes. Do not mix previous and current part numbers, you must replace all to match.
