AUT-O-SAFE® is an auxilliary power supply for your elevator that activates automatically when a building loses power. During a power failure, the Unitec AUT-O-SAFE emergency return unit automatically returns the elevator to the lowest landing and opens the elevator doors to allow passengers to exit. The "door-open" button remains operative to ensure all passengers exit safely. The elevator then remains parked with the doors closed until normal power is restored.


All new buffers are equipped with both buffer switches and rope stretch switches. Provide the buffers' length, existing stroke, striking speed and load rating. UNITEC can provide a replacement buffer for your application.

AT400 Operator
Improve the reliability and limit the callbacks associated with your older door operator. The AT400 Operator is a quieter belt-driven operator with closed-loop control and learn run mode for easier setup. Competitively priced, the AT400 is virtually maintenance free, with no linkage to wear and limited moving parts.

If you currently have an Otis 7300AC, 7770A, 7777 (screw operator), Type 'O' or QL door operator, there are pre-engineered, direct replacement and generic upgrade kits available.

Door Operator Rebuild Kits
There are rebuild kits available for Otis 6970A and QL operators. Whether it be seals, gaskets or bearings for the 6970A operator, or linkages and contacts for the QL, UNITEC provides complete rebuild kits.

Elevator codes in virtually all states in the U.S. require evacuation deterrent devices on elevators. Door restrictors are devices that prevent passengers from opening the elevator doors if the elevator stops between floors. Tragic accidents can occur when passengers attempt to exit the car and leap to the landing. The safest place for passengers to be is in the elevator until trained personnel arrive to remove them.

Installation of door restrictors improves passenger safety. Door restrictors force passengers to stay in the elevator car in an entrapment situation. They can save lives.

Samson Governor
ANSI Code compliant Samson governors are available through UNITEC. Most of these 12" sheave governors are available to ship same day. With rated speed options of 200fpm through 800fpm, the Samson governors use 3/8" diameter rope.

7063E Otis Type Governor
Still available through UNITEC is the Otis Type 7063E Governor, a 1/2" rope diameter application with 16" sheave. Sheave and weights sub-assembly and jaw kits are options for those 7063E Governors which have been neglected.

Apolo Type Governor
For 100, 125 and 150fpm applications, the Apolo type Governor (presently used on Otis Roped Hydro applications) incorporates a 12" sheave for 3/8" diameter ropes.

The 'R' Otis Governor
The early cast iron frame design is no longer available, however the later version with formed sheet metal base is. You can spend the money to get a direct replacement 'R' Governor and avoid further field alterations.

Help prevent crime in your elevator
Any elevator with an old push/pull-style or toggle-style emergency switch can be stopped easily by pressing the button or toggle switch. Because the elevator can be stopped easily between floors, there is a private environment to commit a crime.

Improve passenger security
Key-operated stop switches, consisting of a key switch and bracket assembly held in place by a black collar, improve passenger security by eliminating the possibility of perpetrators stopping the elevator between floors.


The LAMBDA 3D entrance-protection system uses 56 infrared emitters and detectors to create an invisible safety net across the elevator entrance. The microprocessor-controlled system continuously scans for interrupted beams. If any beam in the curtain is interrupted, the LAMBDA system will reopen the elevator door instantly - without touching passengers.

Complete 6940 Interlock sets
Complete sets with or without reel closers are available, as are replacement assemblies. Adaptor plates are also available (separately) to help adapt newer version 6940 Interlocks to the earlier vintage lock bolt pattern. 6940 Interlock Rebuild Kits Making the Old - Like New! Rebuild kits are available for Otis 6940 Interlocks of all vintages from 1962 to present. There are full service kits as well as the basic, most economical option.
